The students chosen must have solid communications skills, they must be able to work well with others in a collaborative manner, and they must be able to think holistically seeing the problems but they must also be willing to actively search for and work toward solutions. To accomplish their goals they will have access to the leaders in East Baton Rouge Parish and will work actively with them to create their shared vision of a Baton Rouge that values its youth. Mayor-President
Melvin L. “Kip” Holden’s Youth Advisory Council develops the leadership of our youth. Every high school in East Baton Rouge Parish has the opportunity to appoint two representatives to serve on this council which will help seek solutions to issues defined by the youth of our community.
The meetings are held monthly and attendance at each meeting is required. To become a member the student must be an 11th grade student, and must be recommended by a principal, school counselor, or teacher, or a current MYAC member with the approval of the administration of the school. |
